NARGIS -on going project-

I was curious about being called by my family... (Nani). Since I was a kid, everyone called me Nani. What aroused my curiosity about the reason behind my name and what is my relationship to it? Then it was explained that I was named after my grandmother, Nargis (Nani). My name was associated with her, and from here I began my desire to search for the journey of my grandmother, who was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and married my grandfather, Abdul Halim, from Sudan, and they resided and died in Alexandria.

Nargis is a visual story/archive project I created throughout my journey knowing my grandmother and myself as well
I was curious about being called Nani by my family.
Since I was child everyone called me that. What aroused my curiousity about the reason beyound my name? what is my relationship with it and her?
then it was explained that I was named after my grandmother (Nargis) my name was associated with her. and from here began my desire to search for the journey of my grandmother was born in Alexanderia, Egypt and married my grandfather Abdulhalim from Sudan both resided and died in Alexanderia.

With time I began to see clearly the similarities between my grandmother and me.

her choice to marry a person whose different than her.. in personality, nationality and mentality, and that she was brave with her choice facing her family

and their rejection and how she chose to be happy around people she never met and knew.

And somehow I found myself doing that without realizing

I choose to be what i want, not what others want..I chose to be a photographer

and not complay with what others see what is fit for me.
